Pura Goa Lawah is an area that is sacred and beautiful. There is no fusion between the sea and the mountains (phallus-yoni). As the name suggests, in this temple there is a cave inhabited by thousands of bats. Rumbling sound boisterous incessant bat, morning, noon let alone at night. Blink of tens, hundreds or even thousands of tail fly. Soon come, hanging, hanging, overcrowded in the walls of the cave coral. Sounded like a boisterous singing the eternal nature of all time. Not to mention the appearance of snake duwe, lelawah (bat) white, yellow and brumbun, adds more mystique atmosphere in the temple in the village of Pesinggahan, Dawan, Klungkung.

The location is approximately 20 kilometers east of the city Semarapura, Klungkung regency, or approximately 59 kilometers to the east from the city of Denpasar. By driving it may take around 1 hour.

Literally, the words “Goa and Lawah” can be explained that Goa means cave (hole) and Lawah means bat. So it could be interpreted Goa Lawah bat cave. In some ejection, at first glance there are concluded in outline that large mock the status of the universe and Sad Goda Goda in Bali was built by the famous pastor, MPU Kuturan.

Pura Goa Lawah,  according to the manners is Pesinggahan translucent in three places each in Mount Agung (Goa King Besakih), Talibeng and Tangkid Bangbang. Philosophy
In Lontar Prekempa Mount Agung told Shiva sends Sang Hyang Tri Murti to save the earth. Brahma dropped transformed into a Dragon Ananta Bhoga. Lord Vishnu incarnated as Naga Basuki. God Iswara become the Dragon Takshaka. Naga Basuki, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu’s head into the sea in order to evaporate menajdi move samudara cloudy. Tail into a tail scales the mountain and into the thick trees in the forest. Naga Basuki head that is symbolized by Pura Goa Lawah and tail towering as Mount Agung. Central tail was at Pura Goa King, one of the temples in the complex Besakih. Therefore in ancient caves in Pura Goa King was supposedly breaks down to Pura Goa Lawah. Because there was an earthquake in 1917, it became a closed cave.

Pura Goa Lawah existence is expressed in several ejection as Lontar Usana Bali and also Lontar Pasek Chronicle. In Lontar was declared Pura Goa Lawah was built at the initiative of MPU Kuturan XI century AD and restored to an expanded back to the XV century AD. In Lontar Usana Bali has stated that the MPU Kuturan work named ” Babading Dharma Wawu Anyeneng ‘whose content is expressed on the establishment of several temples in Bali, including Pura Goa Lawah and also includes saka year AD 929 or 107 years. Hindus in Bali generally perform as the closing ceremony of Mount Nyegara ceremony also called Atma Wedana Nyekah, Memukur or Maligia.

This serves as a proclamation ceremony in sacred rituals that atman diupacarai family had reached Dewa Pitara. Mount Nyegara ceremony was generally done at Pura Goa Lawah and Pura Besakih Pura Goa one of them to the king.

Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung and Temple Goa Lawah by the sea is a symbol of yoni phallus in the form of nature. Yoni phallus is a symbol for the worship of God that one of omnipotence bring together elements of Purusa with Predana. Purusa as an element meets the spirit of the Predana as meteri elements cause creation. So, Agung mount as a symbol of purusa and Goa Lawah as a symbol pradana. It is to describe the natural process in which seawater evaporates into a cloudy and overcast to rain. Rain accommodated by mountains with dense forests. That is a natural process that is described by two of that nature. Natural process that happens over hukm God. Therefore, in the seaside village of Pura Goa Lawah Pesinggahan founded and established on Mount Agung Besakih with 18 major complexity. That God is worshiped in the temple to beg the natural process can still run properly. Because with the passage of the process of this nature would remain fertile to give life to mankind.

Pujawali or piodalan at Pura Goa Lawah is to worship of Lord Tengahing and Sang Hyang Segara Basuki done every Anggara Love Medangsia. The viscera Pura, precisely at the mouth of the cave there is a worship shrine Supreme Studio Sang Hyang Tunggal. There Meru Overlapping Three as pesimpangan Bhatara Andakasa. There Gedong Limasari as Pelinggih Dewi Sri and Gedong Limascatu as Pelinggih of Lord Vishnu. Two pelinggih this as worship God as Sang Hyang Segara Basuki and Bhatara Tengahing.
